I recently learned that the first flight of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is scheduled to take place in approximately 4.5 years. And The plan of installing the existing Kaveri engine, which has a thrust of 73kN, on one of the Tejas prototypes as a proof of concept. Additionally, DRDO and GTRE will collaborate to enhance the thrust of the Kaveri engine from the existing 73kN to 90kN. Simultaneously, efforts will be made to reduce the weight of the Kaveri engine.

Come on … and same stories were told for the Mk.2 Tejas until the very last moment when they realised that they cannot hide yet another set of delayed, which were even so huge, that now maiden flight is scheduled for 2028!!

And now you tell us you‘ve learned the AMCA - an even more ambitious project - will fly for the first time almost at the same time in 2029?

Tejas MK2 funding included a clause requiring the ToT deal for the GE F414 engine to be signed between India and the US before releasing funds, causing a delay. However, the AMCA prototype is scheduled to fly, independent of ToT status, as 8 GE F414 engines have already been delivered. Additionally, when AMCA enters production, the indigenous Kaveri engine is expected to be certified, and a deal between India and France for a joint development of a 110KN engine will likely be signed.

Sorry my friend, but all I hear from India since years is „will have, will be, ..“ and then delays and complaints like in your reply „others are to blame!“
Do your homework first, manage everything you need before you make a plan and announce an unrealistic schedule and public What you hope to do!

Don‘t get me wrong, but if you look at the current Indian military aviation scene there is Tejas Mk.1A, Tejas Mk.2, some still hope for a Naval Tejas, the TEDBF, the AMCA, that new old-style jet-trainer while you still don‘t get the HJT-36 done, additionally the new medium-weight transport helicopter and new ISR, EW, AEW and tanker are planned … for all these projects are ambitious time-lines are announced and portrayed in the social media as if already set in stone for a „bright and glorious“ future! … and then, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN Aand again it will be complained thsi and that is missing, negotiations took too long and others are responsible!

It is a mess, nothing more.

India intends to purchase a sufficient quantity of engines and spare parts, establishing a reserve to cover engine replacement maintenance and potential reordering of new jets, ensuring a supply for more than 10 years.
