I don't know where else to post this but this video is from a Turkish debate show or something and the panel had a discussion on which country should Turkey focused it's attention for better partnership with. China or India. The academic Professor (who's an advisor to the PM of Turkey ) was clearly in favour of Turkey forging a better alliance/partnership with India since for him, China is a loser or an eventual loser of the conflict with the west/U.S.A. ( this video was televised back in 2019 at the height of Hong Kong unrest). Amazingly, the Turkish professor stated that Silk Road ran through/owned by India not China, and it was Indian that possessed true richness back in the antiquities. Worst of all, China has no vision except being led by a Supreme leader a.k.a dictatorial man, unlike that of India. Not to mention that while the U.S. maybe a belligerent country guilty of invading countries around the world, China is far more agressive and threatening which was quite interesting to hear from a supposed learned individual.

I don't know whether that Turkish academic believes the spiel he was spewing or that some people in Turkey just have a very negative views on China for many reasons, be it historical, political, ideological, and geopolitical. It's also quite funny that Turkey is being shunned in some respects by the current Indian government which is siding with Greece with the ongoing Turkey versus Greece dispute regarding their territorial disputes including Cyprus.

Can someone here corroborate what this Turkish academic said as anywhere close to the truth -- claiming that India owned the silk road and China being super duper aggressive/belligerent country worst than the U.S. not to mention that India as the eventual winner against China as the dominant power in Asia. I wasn't aware that Indian software companies are leaps and bounds ahead of China's, at least according to what the Turkish academic seemed to suggest.

Maybe the maritime silk road? It is a very tenuous claim though. As for the actual Silk Road I don’t think India ever owned Xinjiang or Gansu at any point in its history.

There were trade routes from India to Damascus for all sorts of products the main one being the wootz steel alloy used to make Damascus steel.
The Muslim empires started to collapse roughly around the time this supply ran out and firearms entered wider circulation.

Of course he did say that. I would've said same thing if i were in his place. If i were a former empire who has dream of returning to glory days, i wouldn't endorse the current super powers, i would say beautiful things about the one which is practically useless & sacrificable , or even more favorably, play them against each other.

The only thing in India's future is mass starvation and disintegration. We mock "Superpower 2020", but the reality is India as a superpower at any date is laughable. Not in 2020, not in 2220, not ever.
Many people once said the same of China. The only difference being that China had a national policy of "keeping low while we build our strength", which perhaps bought China an extra decade of unmolested growth. China's success at hiding its development and the West's ignorance together resulted in the situation today. It would be ironic if China was likewise blindsided by a rising India perhaps a few decades down the line.

Can you provide sources/links and hard data to support your belief that India is destined for mass starvation and disintegration?

  • India has participated in the PISA test only once before, in 2009. In this round of PISA, where students from Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu sat for the test, India ranked 72ndout of 73 countries, outranking only Kyrgyzstan.
