It is interesting to note from the article that the Russian SAP 518 jamming pod is highly problematic and that the IAF has abandoned it.

Any development though on the AESA upgrade for the SU-30MKI? The lack of news seem to suggest that it is not getting anywhere. I suspect Russian is having difficulty delivering an acceptable product.

Russian's are offering same upgrade as it in SU 30SM with Irbis E.

I suspect it for the radar system but not for the missiles. India has demonstrated that it is good with Rockets and missiles. But electronics and systems need a solid industrial foundation to innovate and stay competitive. Israeli assistance on the radar systems are very much suspected.

But honestly, will India indeed scrap all Tejas Mk. 2 development and begin with a de facto clean sheet design? When will this be ready? in 2028+ ... and then a fourth generation type??

If it come after 2030, god save us, world would have already moved to 6th Gen by then.
