Have you guys consider the possibility that China went to India in 2006~2008 to learn what NOT to do ? In the real world, negative examples can frequently be more useful than positive examples.
There are two major reasons why. First, India has poor human capital. Indian immigrants to the West are the creme de la creme. When India participated in PISA, they ranked second last to bottom.India's economic development model, I think, can't be exactly like China's because of different structural conditions.
I am skeptical that India will ever match China but I am not a doomer either. Some Indian intellectual of a bygone era came up with a pithy slogan which I still think matches the situation: "India will disappoint the optimist but confound its pessimists".

China's GDP was three times that of India in 2006. China's gdp is now more zhan six times that of India. The gap is only getting larger.
