Vivo is garbage. Hopefully Xiaomi also gets its executives arrested by India.
For once, I am in "Full suppart Saar!!" mode for India to arrest all executives of Chinese companies who have businesses in India.

They should be held in Indian prisons for the rest of their lives. Their family members should be invited to visit them in prison, and then they should be arrested and held in prison for the rest of their lives too.Vivo is garbage. Hopefully Xiaomi also gets its executives arrested by India.

India has always been a graveyard for any foreign companies. I don't know why Chinese businesses still have not learnt this by now. If the Chinese private firms are still too greedy or too stupid to GTFO of India, the Chinese government has to start forcing their hand. Vivo and Xiaomi should serve as a harsh example to all other Chinese companies who are still too happy to do business in India.India has intensified its crackdown on Chinese companies, by arresting three senior employees working for Chinese smartphone maker Vivo's India unit. Chinese observers blasted India's unscrupulous move, saying that endless crackdowns on Chinese companies underscore the view that India is becoming a "graveyard for foreign companies."
A noble, but very naive view. You are dealing with INDIA! Its time put away the "Global South solidarity glasses" and look at India as it is. It is a nation with imperialistic ambitions, and considers itself the rightful hegemon of all of Asia. India wants to bring China down, and then step on it. India is just as imperialistic as any of the imperial powers. Nevermind that it is a 3rd world nation. Nevermind that its incompetence keeps it from actually realizing its imperial ambitions. India's mind has already been set, it wants to become an enemy of China. Just accept it!As the two largest developing countries in Asia, India and China should strengthen cooperation for win-win development, Lou said, adding that India should focus on development and solving domestic issues, rather than joining small circles that send the region off course toward fragmentation and bloc-based division.
I wonder what countermeasures that China can come up with. In any case, it has been so damn long overdue. But if China wants to use countermeasures against India, going through the legal channels is not the way. Legality is the last thing India gives a damn about. If it did, it wouldn't be doing all the crap that it is doing now. China should have thought about using grey methods on India already. Those things that it had used against Canada and Australia when both did their nonsense against China."We support Chinese smartphone makers including Xiaomi and Vivo to protect their legitimate rights and interests through legal channels," Qian said, noting that China has countermeasures it can use if necessary.
GT is pissed as usual.

It’s t time to arrest some Indian spies, and start throwing trade sanctions at India. Give India an ultimatum, that China wants those Chinese nationals released within a timeframe, or there will be hell to pay. If India doesn't comply, or doubles down, then China has the justification to make its move. I would add that China should prepare a plan for total economic warfare with India. The more India escalates, the more that China will hurt India's economy.
Nah. If Chinese companies want to waste their money on India, that's their problem. China ain't got time to babysit garbage companiesGT is pissed as usual.

Non-Chinese companies still don't get their executives arrested. Yes most of the arrested executives were local Indians, but there were Chinese nationals amongst them. They aren’t really prejudiced against Chinese firms. American/even domestic Indian companies not Adani operate in the same kind of environment.
I don't accept this. When Huawei was attacked, it's CFO arrested, and it being banned by the five eyes. China stood up to defend it. Because it was a direct attack at China's businesses. Canada and Australia were punished.Nah. If Chinese companies want to waste their money on India, that's their problem. China ain't got time to babysit garbage companies
Consider it as natural selection for companies.
They are garbage and stupid. The whole world knows that India has it for Chinese companies, and what do they do? They keep investing in India. This is not an issue of natural selection. As stupid as Vivo and Xiaomi are, they are not garbage companies. They are Chinese companies that have been quite successful in their own respective market segments. They are more successful than any Japanese companies in the smartphones business. I personally dislike Xiaomi, but I don't support the idea of throwing them under the bus, just because we are angry at their stupidity. They are a Chinese company at the end of the day, and they have been unjustly attacked for being Chinese.

The only thing that should be managed is manufacturing/tech know-how getting exported, (see Chinese suppliers being forced by Apple to move their production to India). China should prohibit such thing for countries who are unreliable (see the unreliable list of countries that China has introduced but so far afaik no country has been included)
They were stupid to invest in India. But they are not garbage companies. They also have investments around the world. They were successful in conquering their own market segments. They have pushed Indian smartphone makers out of business. They are more successful than any Japanese smartphone companies today. Xiaomi have been successful in creating it's own product lines of non-smartphone stuff. These are not garbage companies! They are garbage and stupid. The whole world knows that India has it for Chinese companies, and what do they do? They keep investing in India.
Huawei's case was different as it was targeted out of the blue in the entire Western world. India's case has been a long time coming where everyone knew the inevitability of what's going to happen to Chinese companies there. That's why I call them stupid, and that's why I call them garbage.
If you know that something bad is going to happen if you do X thing, and then you go and do X thing and something bad happens, isn't that literally the definition of stupidity?
*Insert tphuang coping about India being good investment and companies are good at measuring risk.Non-Chinese companies still don't get their executives arrested. Yes most of the arrested executives were local Indians, but there were Chinese nationals amongst them.
This time India is making these arrests because they have a stupid law forbidding money from being transferred to China. Even when the companies in question are Chinese companies. This is a direct financial attack at China.
I don't accept this. When Huawei was attacked, it's CFO arrested, and it being banned by the five eyes. China stood up to defend it. Because it was a direct attack at China's businesses. Canada and Australia were punished.
Xiaomi and Vivo were idiots for continuing to do business in India. But what India did was a direct attack at China's businesses. India cannot be allowed to get away with it scot-free. It had been getting away with continuous arbitrary attacks on Chinese businesses, stealing money, and now escalating to arresting Chinese executives. Sure Xiaomi and Vivo are deserved it, but China needs to start defending it's companies legitimate rights in non-Western countries. Punish Xiaomi and Vivo later, but don't allow a foreign country to bully your businesses, steal money that is owed to your tax collectors, and humiliate Chinese companies for fun.

On another note, have you ever thought about all that relationship Xiaomi and Vivo had built with their Indian partners and staffs? Would it have been so easy for them to just walk away from India? Those Indian staffs and partners have worked with them for so many years, despite the national animosity between India and China? Sure it's easy for us to say, just leave India and screw those Indian staffs. But would have been easy for Xiaomi and Vivo to abandon them? Objectively, now is the time for them to leave India, as harsh as it is for their Indian staffs and partners. At least now they can say to them, that it's not our fault for leaving. It's 100% the Indian government's fault.
