Portugese? From Macau?

Well, with Canadian and American relationships on such good points, I doubt security matters. When the Arrow got canceled, everybody from Avro Canada got hired by NASA. And I doubt that I would get to be as critical as Chamberlain.

I rather doubt that I would be found at places where those foreigners are. :D

Yes, the Japanese volunteered in WW2.

One positive thing to come out of the Sino- Jap and ww2 would be the relaxation on the amount of Chinese women that could come to NZ. Prior to that it was severly limited, hence early Chinese male immigrants had mixed marriages.

I think I Japanese American became a very senior Army General, I cant remember his name something like Eric Shenki? well anyay he was at odds with Rumsfeld, with the type of military deployment required with Iraq Invasion2. I think he was an army traditionalist.

His name is Eric Shinseki, and your point in bringing this guy up is what exactly?

To prove that Asians can obtain senior rank, even one whose ethnicity was often enemy not so long ago, if one was to remember he was a junior officer in the ranks at the time of Nam, at a time when a significant percentage of the population , eg2ww vets who served against them still maintained a grudge against the Japanese.

You are in the wrong era, pal. I and others were talking about what happened during WWII. Don't try to minimize the shameful treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII by talking tangentially about the Vietnam War instead, and about someone who wasn't even born yet when the WWII started. And I was also talking about discrmination against Chinese-Americans, so you're off-topic on both fronts. I know we all look the same to you, but let's get real here.

Wrong: the theme of this thread is about here and now not necessarily about WW2. and Its any possible conflict, Dont you read the thread starter.

It seems some ones got an attitude problem, and a chip so large on his shoulder, it wouldnt be surprising if you walked with a limp , or had to use crutches.

Popeye mentions of a Pai'ea Chung Hoon who served during the second world war who rose to the rank of Rear Admiral.

Wrong and I was the one that introduced the topic of the Japanese volunteers.and neither is the thread about the treatment of Japanese American Civilians. or Chinese discrimination so look whose off topic.

quote and "I know we all look the same" quote

Hmmmm Well you said it pal,not me:D

AS to your question in the other post, Well seeing I've done my bit of Compulsory military training, Im fully aware of discrimination of some minorities. So I don't need to read about it. Besides is it any worse than what female enlistee receives

Shinseki was Chief of Staff I think, probably the highest ranking you can get from a uniform, answerable only to the Defense Secretary and the President. That's the same rank as Colin Powell during the Gulf War.

I remember the Army general who did the Abu Gharaib investigations. His name is Tagoba, by ethnicity, Filipino.

The commander of the US armed forces in Iraq had an Arabic name. Forgot his name, he preceded Petreus.

There is no doubt there is discrimination, always a fault of human nature, yet at the same time, the US Armed Forces is also by paradox, minority friendly because so many minorities join in, that I believe the proportion of minorities in the US Armed Forces might be higher in ratio than in the US general society.
