That's a possibility but it's still requires the weapons to be compact enough to fit into that pod. The problem with pods is making them both stealthy AND aerodynamic. The F-35s gun pod, to be used by USMC and USN aircraft, is a good example of a stealthy pod:

Note that the above pod is designed to go under the fuselage not under the wing. For underwing carriage the F-35 will use conventional unstealthy pylons, presumably because stealthy pods would kill the lift.

I still have no idea how you could make a propeller aircraft stealthy. Logically it defies all my knowledge of stealth.

Also, I'm wondering at the feasibility (and point) of stealthy ordnance on bombers like the B-2. It's probably hard as hell to detect free-falling bombs in the first place, and it seems to me like a waste of money, since there's not much you can do once the bombs have been dropped, it's not like you can confuse them like you can guided munitions.

Maybe it'd be useful to deter enemy forces from pinpointing the location of the B-2 from the trajectory but I am of the opinion that it would be pretty damn hard to detect a stealth bomber based on where the bombs it dropped landed.

Re props - In general I agree but there are two possible solutions that come to mind:
1) make the propeller and hub out of radar-transparent material (at least across key frequencies). Certain composites are useful. The rotors of the Commanche show this approach.
2) use a ducted fan buried in the fuselage in which case the same stealth measures as with a jet turbine apply.

Other options include attempting to mask the prop from key angles although that obviously isn't "all-aspect" stealth. And another option is to use an "X-wing" type device which switches between rotor and wing as on the X-50 Dragonfly.

What if you have the propellors above the (broad) wing and fuselage? At least the plane is stealthy relative to the ground.

Think you know a bit about military technology???? Do ya? DO YA?!!???! Well, here's a chance to dazzle us with your ingenuity, or at least have fun trying.

Take up the challenge! teams or individuals welcome.
Is it nessary to design a plane to make a significan sharp edges?
I know the F-35 some what get some what "round cheeks"

re sharp edges; no but they can be used. "curved stealth" can be used to 'bend' radar waves around an aircraft but it is very complex and to be honest I don't understand it.

Here's my latest doodle, based loosely on the Alenia Sky-X's configuration but with a more stealthy engine arrangement.

This is my latest creation, "loosely" based on the famed x-29. I takes flight in our imaginations here!!! I inverted the wings, made the canards into tail fins, and borrowed canards from an su-37.

Have you thought about how you could make it stealthy?

No, not quite. Im not a expert in designing original planes, I just mkae modifications to existing models. Expect to see an su-37 mod comming soon.

Ok, i put the su-37 on hold for a more stealthy design. I call it the mig 1.46(I renovated, cant i rename it?)

mfidrwg.jpg

it is based off of this very simple mig 1.44 diagram.

But now it's this...

I added a modern fire control radar(from su-34), a new cockpit(from su-37), new engines(from su-34, maybe ill add the su-37s tvc in a later model), ECM pods from su-37, and new side intakes from the su-34. Plus gripen syle canards from an su-37
