Very weird positioning of that single rear landing gear(?) Could be a ps job on that part of the picture at least.

Great use of the aircraft in "attacking" those ice jams.

Using bombers to break the ice blockade in the Yellow River has been the PLAAF bomber fleet's annual mission for very long time. When you consider how wide that stretch of the Yellow River is, it's not that economical (or practical) to break the ice blockade there using other means then aerial bombardment.

Besides, that's a good way to expend the stock of old design bombs...newer aerial bombs employed by the PLAAF are those like the US/NATO types, older designs like we see here are of Russian/Soviet origin.

It also provides valuable training experience for the crews, which is the primary reason why they do it this way.

If they were only concerned about breaking up the ice blockage as cheaply as possible, they could have just used artillery or even just demolition charges.
