Yes it has the tanker pods. Yet it also has a solid nose. New tanker, or an H-6 composite of different variants formed into one for the sake of display?

Come to think of it, I think the H-6 is part of a planned demonstration where the two J-10s might go sipping on it.

That might be a good possibility ... the other thing that makes me curious is the no. !!

No. 18792 is from the 8. Division (at Foshan) ... I always thought - as shown by previous pictures (see below no. 43697) - the PLAAF's H-6U are only within the 48. Division !

Maybe they finally received the new numbers !

Um... i've been seeing the pics of tanker version of H6 with that kind of solid nose for a few years now. It can't be anything terribly new. Perhaps it's just a newly built aircraft, made for refuelling, not an old H6 converted to a tanker.

YES ... I agreed with his part on the possibility of an IFR-demonstration with the J-10.

yeah, the intake on the H-6U pictures look different from the ones for H-6K.

these could be new builds, I agree. Nice to see a 2nd regiments of H-6U.

In addition, the nose section of the H-6K is markedly different from the earlier version of H-6. i.e. not just the black nose cone but also the shape of it itself.

The troubling part is that they will still be using WP-8 as engines, meaning that the loiter time will be a problem. I wonder if they will be able to use ARJ-21 as a tanker in the future.

I don't think that these are new built ! If I remember correctly, then these 48. Division machines were long ago already assigned to the 8. Division ... so IMO they finally got the correct number.

中国轰8隐身轰炸机可以1.2马赫超音速突防





　 《简氏防务周刊》这篇报道对过去12个月所发生的重要事件归结，其中提到，中国公布了新型的“晋”级(094型)弹道导弹战略核潜艇靠岸图片。然后，中国又公布了新型的“东风-25”中程弹道导弹图片。11月，估计中国有400~500 枚核弹头。目前中国正在开发可携带巡航导弹的“轰-8”(H-8)隐身轰炸机。

　　此前，曾有香港媒体报道称，“轰-8是中国立项研制的第一种隐身飞机，其指标是性能尽量接近美国B-2轰炸机，必要时可以1.2马赫超音速突防，携带新型隐身巡航导弹能攻击北美，航程不少于1万公里，具备空中加油能力，是第一代国产隐形战略轰炸机”。该报道还称“轰-8最近能飞起来，得益于4台去年定型的‘太行’发动机。该报道还透露，此次研制是西安飞机公司在中国航空史上创下的一个新纪录。

　　不过，加拿大汉和防务评论的创办人平可夫在接受采访时表示，“中国不具备发展隐身轰炸机的能力”。他认为中国要建造类似美国B-2隐身轰炸机甚至更早的A-12舰载攻击机那样的隐身战机目前尚存在相当的技术困难。首先在飞机制造材料方面需要全新突破，其次还缺乏大功率发动机。类似B-2那样隐身轰炸机还需要“低可探测性雷达”、先进的隐形材料和涂料，而这些技术都是中国尚不具备的。

　　据了解，尽管轰炸机早已问世，但“隐身战略轰炸机”这个概念直到1986年美军装备B-1B轰炸机后才出现。尽管其优异性能，但前途并不明朗，美国空军作战司令部项目负责人马休斯少将表示，隐身轰炸机发展已遇到瓶颈，其核心价值在于“将最猛烈的火力瞬间投到敌人头上”，而这种效能目前可以被防区外发射武器、F-22战斗机、无人攻击机以及超高音速导弹所取代。因此包括俄罗斯在内的世界其他航空强国根本没有建造计划。

At the request of the government of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the PLA Air Force (PLAAF) has launched the first air bombing mission to aid the local government in preventing an ice-jam flood in the Yellow River.

Ice-jams in the Yellow River often occur in spring and the situation in the Inner Mongolian section of the river is typically the most severe. The up stream of the Yellow River often thaws earlier than the down stream, which causes a flood peak in the down stream. When it comes to Inner Mongolian segment, the ice-jam later forms into an ice dam together with the un-thawed ice layers. As a result, the water level of the Yellow River rises rapidly and such disasters as flooding occur when the situation is serious.
