The guy holding up the Contemporary Chinese History Outline has the text underneath saying "time is almost up". It's a meme from a movie called

.

Note he wrote "于无声处听惊雷" or "hearing thunder in silence". 惊雷/Sudden Thunder is the series name for ALBM, hence the recent JL-1 displayed in the parade.

I like these two posts under his thread:

"So before end of the year?"
"Stop asking you're going to get Yankee arrested"

Well, now that multiple sources are hinting I'm convinced. Next stage will be waiting for people to start drawing diagrams and 3 view drawings due to 'sudden inspirations'. If the pattern from J-36 holds once we see those we'll be 1-2 month away from maiden flight.
Should I start accumulating avic xi'an stocks now?

Poor Cute Orca Adorable Dolphin ROFL
So in other words we do exactly what we were going to do anyway: we do nothing and wait and see if it happens.

If it doesn't then Yankee and Ayi's reliability will take a hit, but not Cute Orca since he gave that disclaimer.

If H-20 does fly then Yankee, Ayi and Cute Orca's reliability increases, and you have to make a mental note next to Cute Orca's name saying "is known to deploy countermeasures when locked on, make sure you stay on his tail and don't lose him."

This is why too much direct cross pollination isn't necessarily a good thing.

Same goes for here and other places like reddit and twitter.

The less direct references there are to each other, and the less direct references to specific users (especially identifying ones on the Chinese side), the better.

What is the alternative? Without referring to specific credible users what is the basis for others to determine whether a rumour has sufficient mass or not? Maybe we should all just follow those users directly XD.

I think it's a balancing act. Between SDF and the Chinese language grapevine I think referencing users/reliable individuals is important but requires a bit of restraint in terms of sifting through what is useful and what is chaff (made more difficult now that lots of information is conveyed through rather long podcasts as well as some individuals being even more indirect and/or outright giving misdirection; back in the BBS days it was not quite as difficult), and the frequency of "reposting" their statements.

I definitely do think being cautious about conveying the grapevine (and SDF) directly on places like reddit and twitter is important.

You often hear from military bloggers on weibo that they chose not to share things more widely because they are afraid of being named on western forums or on twitter (with one prolific twitter poster from here unfortunately being one of the biggest discouraging factors).

Naming credit should only be given when the subject of a picture/information is genuinely in doubt. Otherwise, giving credit is almost always a bad idea, not just for the flow of information but also for the safety of Chinese posters.

Also people could just be a whole lot more judicious about when a shrimp is shit talking or doing their own speculation and when a shrimp is clearly putting out a leak.
