Ok, "East German Spy Ship" would have done. Called The Aeria apparently though not sure if that's correct. Now in Turku, Finland.

You mean to tell me that that thing was built in the 70s or 80s? By the East Germans?! It looks like the modern image of stealthiness, something that was only dimly understood then, and certainly not by East Germany. A remarkable ship indeed, excellent find.

Not stealthy by any stretch of the imagination. I think that the strange cover is to hide the radars etc from western eyes.

Really its quite foolish. That ship is so odd looking that it s bound to raise suspicion when a ship that was made up to look like a freighter or a trawler or some other civilian boat would be far less likely to be investigated in the first place.

And I suppose your right now that I look again; that giant bowl on the back would probably be very obvious on radar.

I think that's an exhaust stack. Agreed very odd layout.

Is there any link for better story of that ship? I mean, I use to think myself pretty knowlidged in wolksmarine-lore but that I have never even heard of:confused:
And is it currently at Turku?

Costas, correct.

I know this is breaking rules but here are some better pictures of that spy ship. In lowestoft UK (home of Adnams ale :) )
