Realistically, the Zhaoxin x86 or any other Chinese alternative is at least 2 years away from mass adoption.
So do you propose to use in that time, to replace Intel/AMD processors?

I agree that Chinese companies need to de-Americanise their products so they aren't vulnerable to any sanctions.

But the alternative technology has to be good enough, otherwise best to keep it in low rate production or as a Plan B ready to ramp up.
And in the meantime, continue to improve it until it is good enough.

Loongson desktop have been used in many places in China for awhile now. It's not as good as latest Intel based one but hey running some office suites on Linux is enough for state offices.

Especially now, alot of local and central government are hurting budgetwise, getting domestic desktops are cheaper price is the way the go and most important it supports domestic players.

Actually now US tech groups regretted big time talking bad about China behind the back to Washington politicians. They didn't anticipate Trump is being so destructive, burning so many bridges, banned so many Chinese tech companies from using US tech..the golden goose is being killed.

any links to support your claims?

Yes, that is consistent with low rate production. So Loonson could be ramped up rapidly.

But in the meantime, work on improving the processor continues until it is good enough to compete in the market.

"US tech groups regretted big time talking bad about China behind the back to Washington politicians"

Tsinghua Unigroup chairman Zhao Weiguo said at a conference in Beijing on Friday that U.S. firms should “relax and sleep well”, urging them not to be threatened by China’s semiconductor ambitions, and to play a greater role in easing tensions.

“On the one hand, they’re earning lots of money here in China, and on the other hand, they’re making malicious remarks about China to the U.S. government behind the scenes.”

“U.S. companies can do better, especially technology giants. Some American companies do well, and some do not,” said Zhao.

Based on the observation of their actions on Trump actions. They are angry about Trump is doing.
First they talk behind the back then they are angry about Trump actions. Therefore you can bet those US companies would wish they take it back . Right now Trump is banning them selling to Huawei and some other chinese companies. It's hitting their bottom line

is un-American. As far as he knows, China’s leading maker of networking equipment and mobile phones should be allowed to buy U.S. technology, including software from his company.

Such actions shouldn’t be taken without a “sound basis in fact, logic, and the rule of law,” says Smith in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, adding that Microsoft has asked U.S. regulators to explain themselves. “Oftentimes, what we get in response is, ‘Well, if you knew what we knew, you would agree with us,’” he says. “And our answer is, ‘Great, show us what you know so we can decide for ourselves. That’s the way this country works.’” U.S.

US tech firms stabbed China at the back by talking to US policiticains at washington and now China begins this deAmerican its tech .
Poetic justice. They deserve what they got received.
It's too late for US firms now. They have kick an own goal. The damage have been done. Their future business lie outside China now. Trump by sanctioning Chinese firms is actually a self imposed export limit on American tech firms. Instead of being business partner, Trump is turning Chinese tech firms into fierce competitors. Such irony.

If TSMC buckle under US pressure and stop supplying to Huawei , then Chinese government should step in and force TSMC to sell it's Nanjing fab to Chinese player SMIC, and use that plant to run SMIC 14/12nm. This way capacity greatly increased. Hopefully SMIC can extend to 7nm using nonEUV equipments
