:confused:

strange that a shipyard, specially in china, would announce something like that in a banner. Are you sure this isnt a fake?

Well I'm not sure about this, but is it a big secret that China's going to be building an aircraft carrier? I mean when a shipyard would have started building a carrier it would have been pretty obvious, so why not tell the locals? Increase tourism :)

I'm not sure if that picture is hard or not to photoshop, but I personally think there's nothing to discredit it.

Unless they're the shipyard building the new "052D"..
hmm, Which shipyard was this pic taken at? (was it the new changxing shipbuilding base?)

It is already public knowledge China is building a CV soon, officials have made it very clear they want to build one, and have expressed this desire many times. This shipyard is in SH and one of the only shipyards with capability to build a heavy CV in China.

I can't believe they would announce this in a banner like that, it very "un-chinese" like, as in the past ship would not be officially made public after it is well been commission. But, it does give me an idea though. The shipyard should strategically place billboards so that then get into those fan spy shots, I bet company will pay big money for those space.

That's the new 52D that they are building according to a Chinese article. I can see varyag, so I assume that's in Dalian. Also according to the article that the ship is going to be completed by 2010.

let try this again.

052D construction.jpg

It looks quite big if that's indeed the ship. The article said that however it should be below 10,000 tons for about 9800 tons.

Which article said that that ship woudl be the 052D?

And from my little knowledge of ships, that looks really big for a destroyer. It's about three quarters of the length of the Varyag, so it'll be about 230 meters long. Even the US Zumwalt class is only going to be about 183 meters (and that will displace nearly 15000 tons!)

I think the ship in that picture is probably just a container ship under construction?
