Just more evidence of the lack of endurance of stealth coatings. The F-22 is even worse. From the look of things someone also "forgot" to apply the tape to paper over the gap in the bottom.

The oxidising/deterioration of the surface coating was a well known and documented problem. These pictures look a lot more than that. They look like they were taken on a scrapyard. If this is what they are putting on display you can imagine the state the ones back in the hangar are in.

If you were being generous you could attribute it to prolonged substandard maintenance (budget cuts). Some of those pictures look like serious design flaws.

No wonder the yanks are reluctant to give up their F-16s.

Although the new aircraft provide significant performance advantages over their predecessors, including stealth capabilities, far more advanced sensors and avionics and access to a new generation of armaments, the F-35’s maintenance requirements have been notoriously high - with its operational costs far exceeding estimates when the program was initiated which has repeatedly brought its suitability to fully replace F-16 fleets into question. After facing early issues with the F-35, including the revelation that the aircraft were collecting sensitive data on Norwegian pilots and

, Norway has notably struggled to operate its fleet with shortages of personnel for maintenance having been a major issue.
If the collection of sensitive data was truly a revelation, then Norway's military leadership is either incompetent* or else failed to do due diligence. The most cursory examination of ALIS would revealed the nature of the data being sent to Lockheed Martin.

*this is most likely based on the Accident Investigation Board of Norway’s report
