Here are some cool videos of an F-15 Silent Eagle concept.

Low observable but no Stealth.
In fact in internal weapons bays/CFT modified get the same usual weaponry as F-35B 2x AAM, 2 x 500 lb but the main hard point of F-35B planned for receive 2 AAM according views no possible for F-15SE.

IMHO, hey need to take the newest component of the F-15SA (meaning that new outboard pylon), and add it to the F-15 2040 concept to get this:

Imagine it, up to a mix of 24 missiles, with the conformal fuel tanks!

Combat Aircraft December 2015 edition actually discussed this particular subject. They have to incorporate the digital FBW to be able to activate stations 1 and 9 to overcome instability as a result of the activation.

:eek::eek::eek:

YIKES! That should be called an airborne heavy missile cruiser :cool:

PS: I think back 1997, I saw a "Wings" documentary that showed F-15 ACTIVE nozzles on a test bed as well as in the air. The nozzles were moving in all sorts of direction. Smooth 360' movement. It was very impressive. Almost 20 years later, I am yet locate this footage. I've never seen it after 1997. Has anyone seen such footage? There were similar footage of the F-16 MATV in 1997, but that I managed to locate around 2007.

and there you have it?? There comes a point of diminishing returns, how much ordnance can you load on a very capable, sweet airframe, before it becomes something entirely different. While I believe these excercises are kool, as I pilot, the more Krap you hang on your airframe, the less airplane you have available to fight, recall that the Mustangs and early jets would blow their external fuel at the first sign of "bogeys"??

So while these flights of fantasy are exciting, they must work in the real day to day world of flying and maintaining aircraft, those conformal tanks would be a nightmare to maintain an aircraft around??? and added weight that couldn't be dropped if you got jumped??

The F-15 can still beat most aircraft in the world in a Mano-A Mano air to air dogfight, that will be sacrificed if we insist on busting the design parameters of this aircraft?

But in this case we are talking about missiles.

I would load the outer pylon with AMRAAMs if they can handle it, and expend them in a big furball before getting in close with the Sidewinders and the Mic-mic.

And yet the F-15Es have them as a matter of course and have performed extraordinarily well...in both the A2A and A2G roles.

The conformal tanks are a good thing, and they detract very little from the performance.

Four missiles set that far out on each wing would...so you make them the longer range variety and you use that station for such weapons expect a huge fur all involving heavy BVR engagements to start.

That missile load plus the larger hardpoints that are necessary to accomodate them will create a lot of drag. Even though the CFT will give the Eagle more gas, it's still likely that they'll carry some fuel tanks (centerline and / or under the wings) to maximize mission time, so it's more likely that 4 missiles (2 under each wing) won't be carried and the free space used for those external tanks (assuming that they need to sacrifice those 4 AAMs).

Such a load out would only make sense when faced with an adversary that has so many drones / fighters / cruise missiles or anything flying that the stealthy load of 8 AAMs in a Raptor or 4 AAMs in a JSF (assuming they won't fit 6 AAMs in the near future) won't be enough to fend off the enemy.

It's only then IMO that such a load out would make sense given that you'd have Raptors and JSFs in place with advanced sensors that'll relay data to the Eagle, which would combine that data with its own powerful AESA radar and "sprays" its missiles to those targets.
