Nigeria's F-7's

Hi, my parents are from Nigeria and I wanted to know if Nigeria's F-7's have been modified. I keep thinking the unit cost is very high for such a low-tech fighter.

Re: Nigeria's F-7's

No idea, I would guess Nigeria probably got the most advanced F-7s available. Also, it has some twin-seated version, so that's normally more expensive. Is the unit cost higher than I expected? yes. Then again, I don't know how many missiles Nigeria got as part of the deal. You got to understand that each pl-9c costs around 125k. If you get like 160 of them, that would be 20 million right there.

I hope they will buy it, but most African nations do not spend a lot of money on defense. Nigeria does have the money for it but they probally feel like since they bought the F-7's they will not have to buy anything else for a long time.

There are good number of countries interested in buying retiring J-7/F-7s of PLAAF & PAF. Seems like F-7 in poorer countries will go through 2020 to 2025 probably. Earlier this month Yemmani President visited the PAC F-7 Rebuild facility. Yemman is among the top countries contender for PAF's out going F-7s.

yeah f-7 is good choice 4 those which can't afford advanced ac.
with little money they can provide good air defence although doesnt have ability to strike .4 other countries like pakistan, its also good to make f-7 as second liner ac in air protection n supporting first liner ac.they could be used light cas(close air support).
well better have than nothing:china:

I would suggest that they continue with the MF version which have more hardpoint and much advanced than other old versions of F-7. F-7MF is claim to be comparable to FC-1.

f-7MF was cancelled. Dont ask why. Most likely because changdu makes both the J-7 series and the fc-1, and did not want two export aircraft to compete with eachother for sales.
