About the K130s: I could not exclude ships with such armament and capabilities; it would nto be fair for Germany. There are no such type in the rest four navies. The Floreals and A69s except the main gun and the SSM launchers that can carry if needed, they are not comparable to the K130s.

I always give the proper credits. And of course, I would definitely give credits to Jeff Head for his work (which I really admire) when I have the opportunity.

Thank you for your comments on my blog, I appreciate that!

Your Welcome ! big fan here :) you do amazing stuff, nice articles very detailed ! i compliment you.

For A-69 armament now very limited MM-38, TL, LR ASW retired remains only guns, used as OPV.
Floréal can be considered OPV or Frigate of 2nd rank even 3th.

Allow me a suggestion it would be very interesting as you go about Asian navies especialy Chinese ofc but long...

Cheers.

Thank you very much for your kind words my friend! By participating here I will have a lot of things to discuss and to share. With bd popeye, we had some good discussions on militaryphotos.net. You were there as well or not? I can't remember.

I would classify Floreals as 3rd rank indeed.

Dutch report concluded today that MH17 was shot down by Russia

Spineless European country's including NATO to scared to engage Russia over the death of nearly 300 innocent civilians

Footage clearly showed 4 Buk missiles entering rebel held zone and 3 missiles leaving with the one that was used to bring down Malaysian air line

They the Dutch never make mistakes it was a open investigation very detailed with a clear conclusion - Russian missile fired by Russia downed the aircraft

Now what is NATO going to do??? Declare more training and excercises ???

Shameful day for European military and even more so for the big players

UK says no to creation of EU army, defying calls by Czech Republic to create one.

The UK will oppose any attempts to create an EU army because it could "undermine" the role of Nato, Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon has said.

Nato "must remain the cornerstone of our defence and the defence of Europe", he said, ahead of informal talks with EU defence ministers in Bratislava.

Sir Michael said the UK was not alone in opposing a common EU defence policy.

European Parliament President Martin Schulz has said the UK would not have a veto over closer defence co-operation.

France and Germany are set to make the case for increased military co-operation at the informal meeting in the Slovakian capital later.

Speaking in Bratislava, Sir Michael said the UK "remains committed" to Europe's security despite the vote to leave the EU, and said the bloc needs to "step up to the challenges" of terrorism and migration.

"But we're going to continue to oppose any idea of an EU army, or an EU army headquarters which would simply undermine Nato.

"Nato must remain the cornerstone of our defence and the defence of Europe."

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) is an international military alliance comprised of 28 members, including the UK, US, Germany, Canada and Turkey. It was set up after the end of the second world war in 1949.

'Wrong way'
Asked whether the UK would be able to veto moves towards a common European army, given Mr Schulz's comments, Sir Michael said other countries in the bloc shared the UK's concerns.

"There is no majority here for an EU army. There are a number of other countries who believe with us that that cuts across the sovereignty of individual nation states."

He added: "We agree that Europe needs to do more, it's facing terrorism, it's facing migration, but simply duplicating or undermining Nato is the wrong way to do it."

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker called for the creation of a European army back in 2015 to confront threats from Russia or elsewhere., and the idea has gained renewed impetus after the UK's vote to leave the EU.

In August this year, the leaders of the Czech Republic and said a "joint European army" was needed to bolster security in the EU.

Initialy planned 2018

The Spanish Navy hopes to receive its first submarine S-80 in late 2021

The Chief Admiral of the Fleet, Francisco Javier Franco Suanzes, was confident on Tuesday during a visit to the naval base of Cartagena, the first submarine S-80 could sail in late 2021 in early 2022, according to the new arrangements established after completion of the critical design review in July.

The admiral said that, next year, Navantia Cartagena will integrate all submarine's operational systems.

The S-80 is "a program that begins to see the light out of the tunnel," assured the Admiral Franco Suanzes during his visit. He also recalled that the first prototype, called S-81 Plus, suffered in July a comprehensive review as to its technical viability before starting production.

He acknowledged that the S-80 program has gone through very complicated moment, but stressed that the time has passed. Pending the arrival of the new submarine, Admiral confirmed that three Agosta submarines in service (Galerna, Mistral and Tramontana) will undergo a major overhaul 5th.
