HDW has been developing the Type 216 concept. That is an upscaled 212/214, with all the good tech from the first, but being considerably larger a proper ocean going SSK.

With the Type 218 SG Singapore already ordered two derivatives of that concept for around 2020.

Such an ocean going SSK, in my dreams with 4 (canted) VLS tubes to empoy a Kongsberg NSM type weapon, would be awesome. I'm still holding out a little hope for the australian thing.

No doubt that the German larger design will be very good...and if Singapore has already ordered two as an export type, there is indeed hope for the German design.

But I think since the Soryo is essentially already a larger proven, ocean going design, and is available now...they have a leg up on the competition.

6 tubes x 4 or 5 torpedos per tube. Great.

I understand Type 212 is the crown jewel and Type 214 is the export version (without non magnetic steel hull plus other classified stuff). Does anybody whether this export restriction is still in place?

I suppose to say this ones next fighters:

Mig-31
Mig-23
Sukhoi Su-24
Sukhoi Su-27
Gripen E
Super Hornets
F-15E

One of these seven I wills.

Impossible and say which close around the 2020s.

But maybe riksdan have destination 60 plus maybe 10 more ten last in 2022 or 2023.

I don't taken that for granted. Maybe new fighters is maybe better.

Sivestre, your posts are very difficult to read and understand.

We have a Russian military thread. We have a US military thread.

This is the Eurpoean Military Thread

Your list which includes Russian and American aircraft does not make sense here.

As to the Gripen, yes, that is a European Aircraft...but your comments with respect to these are not making a lot of sense. I do not know if members understand what you are trying to say.

And the Gripen has to do with that.

No problem there.

But the rest of the post about Russian aircraft and US aircraft is not Eurpean...and the phrasing was not vey understandable.

That is all...just take a little more time and make sure you are posting things in the right place.

No..I am not.

As I said, reporting on the Gripen from Sweden is fine, but it needs to be News, pictures related to a news article, and your comments about the news.

You should post links to the news stories and then make comments about it.

Simply stating well known facts is not what these threads are about.

Naval Today said:
EU Naval Force warship, FGS Lubeck, recently completed a four month counter-piracy patrol in the Gulf of Aden after handing over her tasking to German Navy frigate, FGS Bayern, on 10 February 2015.

The handover ceremony between the two warships was attended by senior military officers from the German Armed Forces.

As part of the EU Naval Force Operation Atalanta, FGS Lubeck conducted patrols off the coast of Somalia and escorted World Food Programme vessels to ensure that vital aid arrived safely into port for the Somali people. She also visited Madagascar, the first visit to the port for a German warship since 1914.

Deputy Commander of the Bundeswehr (German Army) Joint Forces Operations Command, Brigadier General Poschwatta, stated:

"During the entire period of her deployment, FGS Lübeck accomplished her mission in an exemplary manner."

The German FGS Lübeck is a Bremen Class Type 122 Frigate displacing 3,700 tons, carrying an eight cell Sea Sparrow launcher, a 76mm gun, eight Harpoon SSMs, two 21 cell RAM missile launchers, and two helos, commissioned in 1990 .

FGS Bayern is a newer Bradenburg class Type 123 Frigate that was commissioned in 1996. It displaces 3,600 tons, carries a 76mm gun, has a 16 cell VLS (which is being upgraded to carry ESSM), two 21 cell RAM missile launchers, carries 4 Exocet SSMs, and can also carry two helos.

Both are very decent vessels and well suited to this duty.
