I didn't know of this (of course no info on mainstream media). Here is my take on another very important, even more important event that is now taking place. A bit OT...but no so much, becasue it will have a deep effect also on semiconductors world.

Germany's Scholz decided to visit China although he knows this will piss US greatly.

Now all EU leader will sit at the window and see what happens next. If US succeeds in provoking a political crisis and remove him, and place one of his shills instead (like the current foreign minster that is very pro-US), then everybody in Europe will be scared and will not dare to oppose US. This would be a huge victory for US.

If instead nothing happens to him and he survives, then other leaders very quietly and very smoothly will follow Scholz example.....and US will start to hear some crack on the wall.....

Scholz very brave!

He is well aware of what he is doing, but he is doing it nevertheless, because he thinks is in the interest of his nation.
Germany centennial enterprises finally get hold of him.

He is doing it because without China he is going to be replaced anyway - 10%+ inflation rate, slow growth, high energy prices in both residential and industrial areas (the latter leading to continued de-industrialization -> loss of jobs), pissed off EU with his energy bailouts and subsidies, etc. If he strikes a good deal with China, then he might offset some of these issues. China needs to set the price high and concrete - not some distant investments or bs like that but some immediate actions & binding contracts - we all know that Westerners are extremely ungrateful and shameless, e.g. China bailed out the US back in 2008 only for Obama to backstab and announce the "pivot to Asia".

I listened to part of the presentation by Germany's Scholz, he did not come to China to hold a grudge against the Americans, on the contrary. The Americans have the only trump card left that they can sanction are semi-conductors. What Germany's Scholz said mainly related to unfair competition and subsidies from the Chinese government. We know that with government subsidies, the Chinese semiconductor industry will quickly reach and overtake the American and Western semiconductor industry, which the West is afraid of.

The problem is that the EU cannot operate independently of the US. If the EU could and were reliable, they could offer China the carrot of refusing to abide by US sanctions, in exchange for a fair playing field in China's chip sector. This could be acceptable to China and may lead to a win-win for Europe and China that would isolate the US.

But in such a situation, the US would never dare to sanction China, in the first place. It is only because the US has such powerful control over the EU that they are bold enough to go forward with sanctioning an industry, much of which is built on European technology.

I don't think the EU has enough trust in China to be able to pull off this kind of strategy; so I predict that China will move forward with domestic technology, and the EU will eventually be forced by the US to sanction China because they'd have nothing left to offer.

The talk about Chinese subsidies is bollocks. All countries give massive subsidies to semiconductor fabs. In the United States each state typically gives billions in subsidies. For example New York state gave subsidies to the GlobalFoundries plant.

And now you have the Federal level CHIPS Act funds as well. China is way behind its requirements in terms of fabrication capacity so there is simply no other choice but to give subsidies.

So what did he come to do? To ask Xi to reduce subsidies and practices that would allow China to outstrip the competition in semiconductor development?? That's got to be the dumbest waste of time fool's errand I've ever heard of; he might as well come with a shovel digging around at the ground in China to look for the Elixer of Life.

Sun Tzu often quoted maxims is this: "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

But why are European whites insistent on knowing about modern CPC China from a very slanted, jaundiced, and biased point of view where their analyses are based from resulting on erroneous understanding and actually knowing the very entity that they're supposedly trying to defeat?

I was giving a benefit of the doubt to this pseudo experts (which am sure are smart people on subject matter they've studied) on China and boy oh boy, what a riot and hilariously bad take. The government can simply arrest anyone without cause, social credit system, Emperor Xi, China is intentionally damaging it's economy to damage western economies (European and western countries are doing this beautifully without China doing jack shit).

Time after time, despite China's massive improvements across the board and the unprecedented achievement of lifting 800 million of her people from extreme poverty the western monkeys still act like it has superiority over the Chinese and China's governance. Have these clowns looked at their countries respective economies anemic growth? Not to mention EU's pathetic performance these past decade?

Europeans can never hope to challenge China with expert advice these numb numbs vomits.

Interesting comment from Xi here to Germany, especially that last part.

You realize that Germany really doesn't have much in the form of AI and digital economy. On top of that, China has killed everyone in green energy fields. With the Europeans getting increasingly left out of the new digital economy space (it's just a battle between US and China). This might be an area where Chinese firms can invest more in Europe. Might be a good place of cooperation or technology exchange. This is no longer 2010 when China was just dependent on getting technology from the west.

Won't be surprised if behind the scenes Germany and other major EU countries are working with the Netherlands, and using this sanctions lift as a test case on US response. Seems like an opportune time for Europeans to do this with America distracted by it's own internal politics as well.

The west is in the late Qing phase of decline, and as time goes on, the more painful it becomes to admit the truth, the more cope and hope we'll see.
