It won't be just Finnair. Finland has been committing economic suicide ever since this war started.
Their much vaunted forestry industry relies heavily on relabeled Russian wood imports. Always did.
Their government's idea of forcing companies to close operations in Russia, will also result in huge economic losses.
See Nokia and their tire factory in Russia as one example of many which people do not even talk about anymore.
"In 2021, Russia represented approximately 20% of Nokian Tyres’ net sales, and approximately 80% of Nokian Tyres passenger car tires were produced in Russia."
And if this continues and they join NATO perhaps it won't be just economic but national suicide as well.
It is about damned time. I told ya when this started. All those coal and nuclear power plants they better start getting them out of mothballs putting them back into use. Any scheduled demolitions of such facilities need to be cancelled ASAP. Should have been the minute the conflict started. The main issue they have is, where are they going to get the coal, because world coal market is strained, and they don't want Russian coal. Are they going to import from Indonesia? Or is the West going to reopen their closed down coal mines? To reopen the coal mines it will take years, and should have been done already. No use having coal power plants without coal. Nuclear power is also dependent on global Russia nuclear fuel supplies. US imports half its nuclear fuel from Russia. France gets most of its uranium ore for enrichment from Kazakhstan.
The west is extremely lucky thus far Russia isn't sanctioning their energy supplies at all. Just gas for rubles, and they get their panties on a knot. All of it thus far is self-inflicted. Imagine if Russia actually stopped exporting energy to these countries.
