It's been weird seeing Mearsheimer referenced so much recently. I've watched more than a dozen of his talks and debates. He is fiercely anti-China. He thinks it was a huge mistake to allow China into the WTO. He could care less about the 100's of millions of Chinese raised out of poverty. He just wants the US/West to surround and choke off China by any means. Any chance he gets he tries to rally his audience to be anti-China. For example, in one debate he tells Australia to follow the US and confront rather than work with China. If not, they will eventually be ruled by China (this was when Australia was still friendly with China). Nowadays I don't bother with him anymore because he has been singing the same anti-China tune for decades.

He is euphemistically called a "realist." I suspect he might be more a racist, given his pro-russian stance.
Hahaha, Professor Mearsheimer is fiercely anti-China American but cited frequently by Chinese Russophiles to score points against American.... The irony.

I have read that only Chinese plant Haval in Russia can operate now as rest of the plants have missing parts problem. it is too soon for second thoughts for Germany. as complexity of product increases so is dependency.

Ukraine war hits German auto industry

After the consequences of the corona pandemic, the effects of the war in Ukraine are now hitting German car manufacturers. More and more tapes stand still. Cooperation with Russia is stopped.

The guy is still very famous in China. Before 2020 he frequently hold lectures in China. If he got cancelled, not unlikely that major universities in China will invite him over.

The West rushed to impose sanctions in the heat of the moment without knowing the unintended consequences and with the interconnection of the financial system, a small default could turn into a full-blown financial crisis if not carefully monitored. They should have waited until they carefully assessed Russians assets.
.

Yeah, I agree. A lot of this is all fake.

Seven Russian banks have been booted from SWIFT.

EU Russia oil and gas business is business as usual.

The EU officially still has an arms embargo against China.

They set up the sanctions in a way where they can slide out of it unnoticed over time.

So Prof Mearsheimer is an opportunistic blood sucker, and changes his rhetoric to fit his captive audience. To the US audience, he is anti-China. To an Chinese audience, he is pro-Russia/anti-US. Whatever pays his rice bowl.

Mearsheimer is a hard-core realist. In this video, "
", he said squarely that it is US to blame for the cause of this Russia-Ukraine war.

The U.S political elite have this nasty habit of associate themselves with the worst people in this planet while at the same time pointing fingers to others.
Don't you see the fight in Ukraine is all about "Freedom" and saving "Democracy" why are you against Freedom? You're just parroting Putin talking points. So says the usual brain dead moralizing lemmings. It scares me that the majority of the people in the west have limitless ways to excuse their murders, genocide, mayhem, chaos, and destruction by simply reciting "Freedom" and "Democracy" and the vast majority of people in the western world simply swallow these all up and say "AMEN." It's frightening in the effectiveness of blatant propaganda.

He's not anti-China but anti against any country that will rival the U.S. preeminence or global hegemony of the world. In that regard, he's an equal opportunity hater/discriminator regardless of one's country's race or ideological make up. And as he expressed as much during his debate on intelligence squares U.S. Years ago discussing the Sino vs. U.S. debate, even if China were to become a "Liberal Democracy" the United States would ensure that version of China can't and will not challenge the global leadership and standing of the U.S. for pure geopolitical reasons.

That honesty and candidness from an opponent of China is worthy of respect, and heck even admiration. He doesn't hide behind empty meaningless platitudes or feel good political posturing rhetoric like those from the left and right of the western political spectrum. There's no misunderstanding and there's no hidden meanings or games. He's a realist and a pragmatic thinker, one that thinks first and foremost what's best for his beloved country and that's what we Chinese folks should do and have done throughout our existence as you have frequently exercised @Phead128 although we differ on some issues.

And NO, am not a RUSSOPHILE am only a russophile with a small "r" for geopolitical reasons, nothing more and nothing less.
