The vultures in the EU did exclude some banks so that they could pay for the gas. Or is that outdated information already?

That's like giving you euros but then saying you can't use these euros to buy anything from me. So what's the point of accepting euros then?

At that point you might as well accept toilet paper, at least you can use it to do something

Don't forget one of the initiatives Scholz was calling for was European sovereignty. If he and Macron (successor) can pull it off, I think EU could become more like India, cooperating with the US in Europe but independent outside Europe.

With Russia attacking Ukraine I think thats DOA. The US will now have a lot more influence in European matters

Fair point.

Fair point, but violating futures contracts will again incur heavy penalties, that the Europeans would be more than happy to collect.

Alliances are obsolete as a war preventing mechanisms.

World War One - the alliances all fought a war.

World War Two- the alliances all fought a war.

Cold War- the alliances almost fought a war, but several proxy wars.

Russia Ukraine - this war today all about alliances.

One can actually make the argument that alliances are instruments of Imperialism!

In the west, historically that was the case.

:D
