Pompeo belongs to the Tea Party faction that also propelled Trump into power; Mr walrus whiskers aka john bolton belongs to the Establishment pro israeli faction that would naturally be just fine with a Biden Democrat Presidency.

They're worried about how much Trump has damaged the US's democratic reputation. Well it doesn't help when they're okay with their two-faced image publicly versus privately.

What will Beijing do? Are they going to go along with this ruse like before? These lies are why when someone like Trump comes along who believes all the lies about trade from the US government and when he's President he acts on it. Beijing wants respect but they go along to be in a position to be disrespected.

Yep, the fact that so many career diplomats resigned when Pompeo took charge should be testament to how fucked US diplomacy became when insane right wing christian fundamentalist politics took sway. Having this fucker in charge of the nuclear football would be as if ISIS acquired the nukes and the means to launch them.

I do not believe American observers fully appreciate the contempt with which Barack Obama and Joe Biden are held by China hawks in the military.

At the Pentagon, the Obama/Biden team was seen as a dithering and appeasing across the board from Ukraine to Syria to East Asia.

Only a strong and commanding hand—first Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State and then, after her departure, Ash Carter as Secretary of Defense—was seen as keeping the Obama administration focused on properly employing, protecting, and expanding America’s military power.

The public scapegoat for the insufficient muscularity of Obama/Biden foreign policy was Chuck Hagel., Secretary of Defense from 2013 to 2015.

Chuck Hagel was and remains a close personal friend of Joe Biden.

Biden as Vice President was a key player in pushing Hagel for the Secretary of Defense job. He personally shepherded Hagel’s bitterly opposed nomination through Senate confirmation over a storm of objections from both within the Obama White House, the Pentagon, and Congress.

After Hagel was pushed out amid ferocious back-hatcheting from Susan Rice and her group--and studied silence from Barack Obama--Hagel and Biden remained close.
