Look where Russia is at nowadays. Russia is basically Europe's gas station with a ton of sanctions slapped onto them and little consumer-oriented industry whatsoever. You've never heard of Russian smartphones, Russian tech industry or Russian innovation nowadays because Russia's belligerent attitude never allowed Western companies to invest modern tech into it. China wouldn't be where it is nowadays if it didn't bide its time back then.
A vast oversimplification. Russia can feed itself and even export food. It has energy security. It has a vast minerals sector and is basically a world leader in all sorts of metals from aluminum to titanium. Because of their somewhat limited population, their semiconductor sector never grew properly. Their market is basically the size of Japan in terms of number of people and we know how that's trending. Also do not expect them to invest in things like solar cells or electric cars. These are basically unthinkable and make no economic sense there. Gas is cheap.
Russia is also a world leader in all applications of nuclear technology. They were using gas centrifuge technology for enrichment before anyone else did back in Soviet times. Today they are a world leader in Generation III+ nuclear reactor construction and offer both turnkey and pay only for generated electricity business models. No one else does this. They have fast breeder reactors like the BN-800. They also have more advanced nuclear fuel reprocessing than anyone else currently. If this is just "a gas station" I think a lot of countries would like to be in this position. Just try reading about the progress of MOX fuel fabrication in Russia vs the US. It is a litany of US failure.
A Biden Presidency might LOOK like it would get China off the hook but they would basically try to reinstate the TPP. Or they would reintroduce sanctions later anyway. They were already doing it to Russia. It might simply happen he would just keep some of the sanctions on China.
