Discipline around low effort posts or poorly sourced posts

Man makes some good and obvious points. Mohsin is ironically exactly the kind of person that's suited to the role though as described by Man.
by78 gets my vote.

lolz, i'm here to have fun, if i had actual responsibility here that would defeat the purpose!

p.s. whoever does become mod, one of their responsibilities should be to create a secondary source-blacklist and enforce it.

I'll Agree with @by78 being a mod. IMO sometimes he does rebuke a clueless new poster rather harshly, but the rest of his posts are a must-see for me because they're usually high-quality pictures.

Also, may I nominate @Tam? He's mainly active in the technical thread and for me, his posts in other threads are not the kind that would start a quarrel.
@Tam seems to have quite an expertise in PLAN ship spotting and electronics (Radar, ECM, etc.), and if he agrees to be a mod I'm pretty sure he can clean up a lot of the low-quality sources and warn the members that posted them.

wait wait there is a job attached to this... Responsibility? Dab nab it... now I need a needle and thread to sow some heads back on.

five years ago I might have been happy to today... no. I am here still but mostly for the few technical threads.

Also, for the low-quality posts, I wish we can designate a list of trusted members on certain threads, like flagship threads for example. Preferably they are members that have sufficient knowledge on the particular topics discussed in the thread, as well as being pretty active.
If enough of them downvoted a post, it's automatically hidden, though if you want to see the post you can just unhide it, pretty much like Twitter warnings.

the standards of downvoting could be:

A. off-topic
B. inflammatory comments
C. low-quality posts with questionable/ conspiracy theorist sources

Members that have a lot of their posts hidden can then be investigated as they're most likely trolls or people that like to post more provocative/inflammatory content. That would make the job of moderators easier as the people mods trusted can help suggest who to investigate.

Mods can set a certain number of hidden posts from a certain member before they're alerted to the anomaly and then check those offenders. I'm pretty sure that would help with handing down punishments and tracking down low-quality posts.

Since everyone's throwing names into a hat, I'd like to nominate myself and tell you exactly what you can expect with me as a mod: I will wage a jihad to turn Sino Defence Forum into SINO Defence Forum. My first act will be to ban all of tidalwave's alts (if I get anyone who isn't, tough skittles, it's casualties of war) and lock out any new members until I'm sure that psycho has given up and gone - that alone will solve half the problems here. Next up will be banning everyone on my ignore list, which will be great because they won't only be gone for me, but for everyone else as well. They're on there because they deserve to be and you, dear reader, will notice the marked increase in quality once they're gone just as I have.

Now, you might think I'll arbitrarily ban everyone with a pro-Western opinion - nothing could be further from the truth. I'll ban the pro-Western trolls, especially those passive-aggressive little whiners who leave their road apples strewn about the various threads and don't have the courage to stand up and defend their warped opinions against serious challengers. They know who they are, and with me as a mod they're right out. They'd be wise to keep themselves to their F-35 thread - although Heaven knows what something like that is doing here, perhaps that needs to be gone as well...

What's my experience, you might ask? Why, moderating r/Sino on Reddit, of course! You might think it's a highly nationalistic and aggressively chauvinistic pro-China echo chamber, and you'd be absolutely right - but think about what it takes to moderate such a sub in the middle of one of the most disgustingly pro-American cesspits on the internet. We've withstood brigade after brigade after subreddit ban wave and still going strong.

I like what I hear. This is a good and effective step in removing the trolls and will have moderating effect on the discussion,
