Excuse my ignorance, but it looks like their are side railings in the catapult launch lanes from these pictures? Is that an expected feature of the CV-18 Fujian/003 CATOBAR or just a byproduct of the current status of development?

The image quality does not allow for us to assess whether there's anything like what you described present.

And even if it were present, common sense would overwhelmingly dictate that they would not do flight deck operations with them.



Rule of thumb -- if there is anything which looks "strange" or "unexpected" chances are it either isn't actually there, or it isn't going to be there permanently.
