Excuse my ignorance, but it looks like their are side railings in the catapult launch lanes from these pictures? Is that an expected feature of the CV-18 Fujian/003 CATOBAR or just a byproduct of the current status of development?

How can you make out of something like "side railing"? It is most likely just paint of deeper shade of gray. These deep colored lines are borders of the catapult tranches, so they are special treatment/paint like sealing. Ford has them too.

Today's photo from Jiangnan Shipyard shows an orange object of about 50 meters on the pier next to the Fujian, curious what it is. Is it for some kind of ceremony?

Most ceremonial banners are red, so if it's orange it's probably something else.
