The radar is mounted on a platform that rotates both in azimuth and elevation.This new radar, obviously a phase array, replaces the venerable Type 347G that's used on the CIWS. The 347G radar, in a stand alone form, is also used as the gunnery fire control radar for the 76mm gun on the Type 054A and Type 056/056A, which you can find mounted on top of the bridge. This also implies that in the future, this new radar can replace the 347G used in the frigates for gunnery fire control.
