The main reason to continue to hold the hull in the construction dock would be the availability of the big gantry cranes to handle heavy monolithic blocks such as the bridge. Once these are shipped and the hull sealed the hull can vacate the dry dock and the construction can continue at a fitting out pier. So I would be very interested to see how the underwater hull is doing. If the propeller shafts are installed and rudder is shipped, then the hull is physically ready to be floated out. I say there is 25% chance the hull will be floated out not by the end of the year, but by August 1st, the Chinese armed forces day.

It’s the oversized Russian design made people think that a CV’s island must be big,and Soviets did that cuz 1.the radar&computers and other electronic devices were huge 2.pilots and senior members’ room were in the island.
And by moving the rooms inside the ship&better electronic devices, you make the island smaller, actually american ACs always have a little island no matter they were nuclear powered or not
Also, they were cruisers, so they had have flag and command facilities.

It will be a sister ship in JiangNan yard before DaLian complete its nuclear production line, build a single ship of its kind isn’t PLAN’s tradition and there’s still some time for JiangNan to build another one cuz after DaLian’s modification,004 would be in construction immediately.

Actually there is a precedent of a single ship class for the largest naval surface combatant. The Type 051B is a single ship class.

I only agree there is a decent chance for a second ship on the same class as 003 because there is no way the nuclear naval reactor will be ready in time to start the construction of the nuclear carrier right after this one is launched. Plus given they will have to shake down the new technologies in this carrier a decent amount of time between this and the 004 would be advisable. Given the gap in time it is possible to build a second carrier of this same type. The only question is will they do it or not.

Considering they ordered more type 055 before the first one even finished that's a likely possibility.

The Type 055 had little new technology compared to the Type 052D. It is basically a larger hull with much the same technology in it.
You cannot compare that and this. Totally different.

I say there is 25% chance the hull will be floated out not by the end of the year, but by August 1st, the Chinese armed forces day.

Except the Chinese don't do those kind of stunts. There have been no rush builds of anything to suit any political date thus far.
