The way in which the word "rushed" was used was in a context where the progress was made at the potential expense of other things.

In any case, let's wait and see.

If the island has been installed before the flight deck was sealed I would be a little bit surprised -- but it would also hardly be unprecedented.
Other carriers have also had their islands installed before flight deck completion, no dramas.

E.g.:
Nimitz
You've done it now. "Experienced China-watcher suggests Type 003 may be nuclear powered after all."

Lol one would have to be really stretching it to interpret it that way, because they'd have to come up with some kind of logic to believe that the installation of an island prior to completion of the flight deck is something only seen on a nuclear powered carrier.... Which obviously makes no sense at all.

Especially given we've used all manner of past pictures of other carriers (nuclear powered and non nuclear) as useful references for 003 as it proceeded along construction, and also 002 when it was under construction as well.

003 will pack 16x JL-3s in the island and you can't convince me otherwise. /s

It's amazing how long in advance everything was planned and the details were well established: at least 10 years have passed between these two moments ...

May you please elaborate your statement for layman, what is the relation of the previous construction, I guess Liaoning carrier, in Dalian shipyard with the current one, 003 in Jiangnan? The said planning, the project management of two different shipyards. Just don't get it.

I just realize the US CVN has its catapults pointing to parallel direction, but 003 seems having the 2 catapults in main deck pointing in injunction directions? Am i wrong? Why?

The orientation of the 2 bow catapults are dictated by the need for aircraft waiting lunch on the port side catapult to not block the path of an aircraft taking off on the waist catapult.

The US carriers have two waist catapults. The inboards waist catapults is slanted closer to the centerline. The necessitated moving the rear of the port side bow catapult further inboard to clear it. So the two bow cats don’t point straight ahead. Both point slightly to port.

The Chinese carrier has only 1 waist catapult. That is parallel to center line and further outboard. So the rear of port side bow catapult on 003 didn;t need to be shifted over as much to star board to clear it. So it don;t look like it is paralleled tot he starboard side bow cat.
