Just like an infomercial, there’s one more thing. There are reports, described as reliable by Foxtrot Alpha’s sources, that a second Type 003 is under construction at Dalian. If true, this would likely give China three combat-ready carriers by 2025.

Foxtrot Alpha is claiming there's another Type 002 under construction at Dalian.

FYI, FA calls the 'Shandong' (or whatever its name it will be) the Type 002. The Type 003 is the one being built in Shanghai and now FA claims also in Dalian.

I'd have thought someone here would have posted that first given the pix of Dalian you folks are good at finding.

The article is interesting for sure. But it doesn't have anything that hasn't been discussed in this thread previously. The only major thing, is he claims "Type 003" (i.e. CV-18, CV-19) are nuclear powered when, the current consensus is the next CATOBAR ships will have conventional propulsion. Nuclear propulsion is only supposed to happen on the class after that.

Someone even leaked a powerpoint slide from the shipyard showing how the carrier is supposed to look like a couple weeks ago. The knowledge that CV-17 and CV-18 are being built simultaneously on two different shipyards has also been widely agreed upon here before.

Right, but unless I am completely misunderstanding, he seems to be saying there's another carrier (CV19?) being built in Dalian of what he calls the Type 003.

Chinese fan community doesn't seem to have a problem fixing the names of carriers.
They simply call them
No.1, No.2, No.3, No.4
And yeah there's increasing number of people agreeing that two carriers are infact being built together and will be in recognizable shape by next summer, albeit the power source is still not confirmed.

We saw a piece of a torpedo protection system in Dalian. And there are some rumors, that two carriers of identical type will be build in parallel.

So we possibly expect:
Dalian is outfitting 002 and building 004 after Liaoning left the dock
Shanghai is building 003

My prediction

CV-16 and 17 ski jump
CV-18 and 19 CATOBAR/EMALS conventional
CVN-20 and CVN-21 EMALS

Btw is it confirmed 003 is EMALS? That why it was delayed

Hull number I thought that was CV-16 001?

002 is second ski jump

JNCX is 003

And DL looks to be 004

Btw sometimes I can’t believe I’m referring to Chinese carriers here

We all knew of the excitement back in 2012 etc when we used to dream of Chinese carriers and the most we would see is a LPD

Now the talk is real wow just wow
