I don't think so. Even in the videos where the ship took up a small fraction of the video length (7-8 seconds out of 50+ seconds), it should have been within their capabilities to make all of the footage (not just the ship, but of the overall commissioning ceremony, including Xi) have a higher quality as the first release.

I suspect there just isn't much of an overlap between talented media/PR individuals, and individuals who understand military matters, while also being able to follow state media goals.
That is to say, it's just a case of general incompetence rather than deliberate 3D chess

Anyway, I digress. This will be my last comment on the matter -- at this point state media incompetence is less of a frustration than an amusing feature of PLA watching, to tick off on the proverbial bingo list for any new development
Could it be the high-res materials just needed to be heavily vetted because Fujian and its techs are pretty new? The ceremony was on 5 Nov. And 2 days for passing all the security/secrecy related red tapes doesn't seem bad at all.

I'm not talking about the delay between the event happening and the release of initial imagery/footage.

I'm saying that the first release of any imagery/footage should be high quality to begin with; considering the delay between release of first imagery/footage (which was poor quality) and higher quality imagery/footage was only a few hours, it is not related to any clearance issues.

Besides there's nothing on the commissioning ceremony which we haven't already seen anyway from the aviation trial footage a couple months ago
