It's pretty likely.

Conformal antennas take volume and also the smoke stack. Look way better than the Christmas tree on carrier Ford Island... probably less radar return with Fujian setup even with the smoke stack taking a lot of volume there.

The air intake and waste air exhaust takes up a large portion of the island. Nuclear powered CV do not need this.

This is how 003 looks like without the air intake/exhaust part.

Actually it's exactly because her island is comparatively not that big that she gets the exhaust soot issue that no previous PLAN carrier suffer from. USN conventional CVs have pretty small islands too but they don't need to fit an entire guided missile super cruiser worth of sensors.

Tell me one modern nonnuclear powered carrier that has a smaller island than Type-003… I suggest you go to see a psychologist. The answers you are seeking can only be found through them. Don’t wait until it’s too late…
