no sure if US still has conventional carriers but i am not comparing conventional with US nuclear i am not comparing apples with pears when eventually China builds its first CVN then the island would be much smaller

So, are you comparing the footprint length of 003's island to the footprint length of USS Kitty Hawk's island? Or the total volumes of the two islands? If it's the footprint length you are comparing, then 003's island is definitely shorter than Kitty Hawk's, especially considering the extra structure behind the main island that holds the radar. If you are talking about the total volume, then 003's is still smaller.

Kittyhawk's island will not look small if you replace their conventional mast with a integrated mast like cover. The apparent 'volume' of an integrated mask plus very large radars essentially wrapped around a chimney is deceptive.

thanks bro, i am talking about the base of the island ie X by Y metres....not the volume of the whole island structure. the smaller the base the better utilisation of deck space
