Range of applications? What other applications for a catapult than launching a plane?
Could it launch a helicopter? I mean, helicopters that use lifting bodies in their design, and also have wings that weapons are hung from. If the catapult gets it up to a speed to get the lifting surfaces working it would increase the load it can carry versus normal takeoff.

Same applies to a tilt rotor, it could be launched from a catapult with its wings rotated 45%, this would allow it to carry more load than launching vertically.

Helicopters and tilt rotors don't get their lift in the same way as fixed wing. It would be disaster to catapult launch them.

It would not surprise me if electromagnetic catapult technology and rail guns have much in common from an engineering perspective. Being able to master one could be a stepping stone to making the other viable.
In fact I would argue maglev trains and magnetic bearings are all "related".

I realize that. I just want to know if Fujian has launched any aircraft with her catapults. If not anyone have any idea when that may happen? Thank you.

Very interesting and valid question, I haven't seen it ... my guess is probably they haven't as the aircraft J-15B for catapult may not be in operational yet (?) ... just my guess

where
is
the
fucking
smokestack?
Im going to demand an apology soon.

The captions say: "Carrier Fujian is the world's largest conventionally powered (常规动力) aircraft carrier."

Would you care to explain why you still think Fujian is nuclear powered?
