December 6th is past, so your theory become more and more ...
December 6th is past and December 26th is one step closer. My speculation is closer and closer to reality.
My speculation that the commission date is most likely the December 26th is based on the following observations:
1) The way that the PLA covers her pennant number indicates the waiting time will be relatively long before the number is finally disclosed. The longest waiting time in December for a significant historic date is Mao's birthday, the December 26th.
2) The reason that the PLA covers the pennant number, I guess, is to distract people's attention to cool-off the whole thing a little bit due to the relatively long waiting time.
3) Given current political atmospheres inside and outside China, CPC needs to use any available opportunity to remind Chinese people who founded the PRC, how the PRC was founded, what kind journey the PRC has traveled during the past 70 years, and where the PRC will go from here,...etc., Mao's birthday offers a best opportunity to do so. (Keep the red tradition alive and pass it on. )
4) Mao's reputation as the founder of modern China has been severely damaged during the past thirty years of Reform and Opening-up. China has been tolerate for too long to the demonetization of Mao by the US and TW because of concerns about trade relations with them. Now that the relatively harmonious relations with them are gone, it is time to fight back and set record straight. And this also is why China recently began to re-air old Korean war films made in the 1960s without considering bad feelings from Americans.
5) CPC always considers USSR collapse started from demonizing its leader Starling by NIkita Khrushchev in the 1950s. To avoid the mistakes made by the Soviets, the PRC must defend its founders. Otherwise, the PRC will collapse like the USSR eventually.
6) The Chinese, unlike other peoples in the world, have the time-tested tradition to honor their ancestors rather than gods. To commission the first home-made aircraft carrier on the birthday of Mao is a proper way to show Chinese's gratitude and respect to Mao. It is consistent with Chinese tradition. It also serves CPC's goal to restore Chinese's confidence in their own culture. (Cultural confidence)
So, commissioning the first home-made aircraft carrier on December 26th can serve many goals for CPC. It is one stone kills many birds. This is why I speculate the most likely date to commission the ship is December 26th, 2019.
Mao is not the founder of MODERN China, Deng Xiaoping is.
Mao doesent need "demonetization" he was completly inept as a leader, Stalin atleast progresed the countrys Science and Industry.
Celebrating Mao other then as something thats part of history is not wise, if his policys had not changed the aircraft carrier would be a barge with a helicopter on it..
