That might "officially" be but I must admit - and here connecting with the mystery, why there are not more J-15s produced - I won't be surprised (I'm currently spinning this as a theory) if the Liaoning will always remain a training vessel and the J-15s will be more or less re-assigned to the Type 002 as an operational carrier and the Liaoning will get a dedicated carrier-capable trainer (JL-10J).

By the way, the J-15s juts got new two-digit serial numbers, just in the same way the KJ-500H and KQ-200 also assigned to the South.

This CV needs to be joined by more type 075 very soon, for China to meet big challenges from the adversaries.

My bet is that 075 will be based in Zhanjiang not Linyi base in Hainan. All the Type 71 assigned to the SCSF are based in Zhanjiang.
