At the launch position?
So the aircraft moves to the launch position empty, then they start to load it with ordnance?

It cut back drastically the sortie rate.
Maybe they used up the space of old Granit tubes for weapon storage.

On the Nimitz class it is around the main aircraft elevators.
And on Nimitz they move the aircraft with full weapon loads to the launch position.

It is weapon elevator all right There are 2 or 3 more weapon elevator close to the island So it won't affect sortie rate. You need large number of elevators to speed up weapon loading to the plane
Intrepid probably can tell us more

That make practically useless the weapon storage on the place of Granits.

In high sortie mode as soon as they need to use the weapons stored there ( as they run out from the ordnance stored in no2 and no3) they have to slow the sortie speed to third or less.

May be, they plan to rearm just landed aircraft on the foredeck while the recovery phase is still in progress - like the American way, look at the picture of CVN-65 and You see the open elevator:

Where are the other ordnance elevators?
By the drawing as it looks like the forward elevator is for the main weapon storage.
I presume on the type001A they increased the forward storage by the space of the Granits.

No! They didn't increase the hangar of 002.

Weapon elevators near the island:

I mean the ordnance storage space.
Due to the elevator it is not possible to increase the hangar without re-design the internals of the ship.

Can be interesting to know the ratios of the two storage.
The middle one should be under the hangar deck.
But by the sizes /amount of lifts the forward one is the main.

Normaly there are two elevators: one from the storage to hangar deck or assembly deck level and one from that level to the flight deck. In older carriers the assembly level is one deck below the hangar deck, may be the crews mess deck in other function. In newer carriers the assembly is done on hangar deck level or even in the hangar.

The visible position of the weapons elevators on the flight deck shows not the position of the storage deep in the hull.
