That's really fast. Just two years ago we saw satellite images from the empty dry dock. Now she is ready to be launched. It will probably take another two years for her to be fully deploy-able.

My guess is the ship will run builder's sea trial in late 2018, delivered to the navy by end of 2018, navy trials including deck operation, arrested landing, etc, through the first half of 2019, and training throughout 2019, with 1-2 work up cruises, and ready for actual operation sometime first half of 2020.

The caption claims that rumours of an April 23 launch are unconfirmed. Additionally, the tides for April 23 are unsuitable for a launch and the actual launch should logically take place after April 26. The source is 辽宁号指挥长 who, IIRC, is an admin for CJDBY naval section. His words should hold substantial weight.

Hmmm ... at the CDF there however is a new rumour posted that the "big boss" has arrived at Dalian, so a launch this weekend looks more and more likely.
