Hehehe...that's my hangar pic from yers ago.

As it is, and as Poepe and I said back then (years ago), they would never store the J-15s inside in that manner in any cae.

Noroom to manuever any at all except the two by the elevators, and then only very slowly.

I think they could have added more room to the hangar...and probably did. Is it enough to add 7-8 more J-15s into the hangar in normal operations...probably not.

It is enough to allow 7-8 more total aircraft to be added to the vessel, including the changes they made top side with the smaller island and other things done on the flight decjk?

Perhaps so.

We shall just have to wait and see.

is the original article. As far as I can see, they don't provide a source for their "enhanced capacity" theory. I wouldn't read too much into this article; it sounds like it's describing what Sina wants 001A to be as opposed to what it actually will be.

I think jobjed is in a way correct. The way they worded the title is a bit misleading. As you can see in the title there is a space between the 2 section. The first section of the title just states: "Domestic build aircraft carrier have "optimize" or "enhance" carrying capacity in the hull" the second section of the title state "Can carry a maximum of 36 aircraft" When they add a space in the title the meaning can change to where the carrier can carry up to 36 aircraft and not just the hull itself.

In the sentence "目前即将下水的国产航母比辽宁号优化了舰体载荷,正常执行任务时最多可携带28至36架歼-15,和美军航母的制空战斗机总数基本相当" It states the upcoming aircraft carrier comparing Liaoning have a optimized hull. Under normal mission, it can carry 28 or up to 36 J-15 similar to the number of air superiority fighter that US carried.

Basically with a optimized hull, the OVERALL carrying capacity has increased. I think the title was a bit of a click bait

Quiz of the day: two multi-billion-dollar vessels will be launched on April 23, 2017, according to rumors. Name them.

Imaginary beers to anyone who can answer it!

Carrier would be one.... But what on earth could be the other? 055 can't be ready, nor 071. (even if they do cost multi billion DOLLARS) various supply ships can't cost that much. Only other thing coming to my mind would be some sort of nuclear submarine. But even there, could a chinese built submarine really cost 2 billion dollars??? US built virginia costs that much, so chinese one would probably cost half as much.

This picture shows the forward end of the hangar:

It is from *this* posting. It is the same frame than on Liaoning. This has been observed and can be considered a fact.

The aft end is unknown. But with an extended hangar there is less space for workshops. I guess (my opinion, not a fact), the hangar has the same aft end as on Liaoning.

Conclusion: the size of the hangar is unknown, the construction of the forward end has been observed. If somebody tells the hangar has been enlarged to the place where the big missiles have been removed, than this is an unfulfilled wish and throws a bad light on the one who claims that.

thats your opinion that the picture is a proof that the hanger is the same as Liaoning ... its not a proof at all to me ....

my point is ... at least in this forum, we dont need to find a solid proof to believe or deny it ... a lot of hints/photos and discussion and enjoy it ..... actually it makes this forum exciting and the best

Why not ?? Following the latest CGs it seems as if #01 is nearly finished.

Didn't see that image so far. I guess they could launch it within weeks if it's indeed that complete. And while in theory it could be a 2 billion dollar ship, that'd require some creative accounting or a misunderstanding of costs definition. Perhaps multi billion pricetag for the first batch of 4, or something like that. Not per ship itself.
