Plus the Granit launchers are forward of the weapons elevators which themselves are just forward of the hangar, and on the flight deck they are right where the bow launch positions are, so their movement is highly restricted. Even so, unless the ship has these elevators somewhere else the Granit launcher area cannot be used to extend the hangar space.

Wasnt the maintenance section in the rear?
What if they enlarged it there and create maintenance in front where the granits where?
Win win

The hangar is already near the stern. I suppose if you go back almost the rest of the way you could add maybe 2 or 3 additional spots for J-15s, but certainly not 16 additional spots.

Also you should have the engine test area near the stern to exhaust overboard.

Actually 24 J-15s + 12 helicopters. So basically he's claiming that CV-17 can carry 40 J-15s and 12+ helicopters. 16 additional fighters in a ship essentially the same size as the Liaoning simply strains the bounds of believability.
Like I said...maybe they will push it to 30 or 32 J-15s, but I do not see them getting any more, even with a revamp of the hangar areas.

If this is the real deal, then it's very likely they're going to complete the majority of the island in the assembly line, then hoist it up and install in one shot?

There are two part there on the pier net to the carrier. I do not know if they are going to lift ehm one at a tie, or join them together and then lift.

Ny guess is two lifts since they brought them there in two parts.

But they should go pretty quickly.

Once the island is lifted her appearance as the 1st PLAN indigenous carrier will really be established.

The Liaoning's stern does not have an engine testing bay as far as I can tell. The starboard side possibly may.

Nope you're right. There is no jet shop where you can wheel the turbines on the fantail. In the case of the liaoning and cv01 I imagined they would do the testings on the deck itself while mounted to the aircraft off the starboard side. Not too uncommon.
