The original idea behind the Kuznetov carrier for the Soviets was for them to protect SSBN bastions and keep American ships and subs from penetrating to them.

That's why the arrier was designed the way it was. It did not have the force projection goal in mind. It had a defensive measure in mind.

look at both carrier ports - they are SSBN bastions nearby, so this could be on of the jobs, CV 001 and CV 001 A have to do in case of war, additional to the training job they made.

I've already seen PS versions. As to real photos, It will take a lot longer to fit out a new carrier, run her sea trials, then work up her equipment and crew than 18 month. If the next carrier carries out her first real operational deployment, as oppose to trials and work ups, prior to 2020, I would be amazed.

I did not say that the new carrier would be either IOC or fully operationsal. I believe they would make good PR by having the Liaoning there when she goes on her first sea trials for example...and perhaps later trails of various sorts too.

Any mention the rest of the fleet apart from 901 and 056 being able to tag along at that speed. Have a concern the 054A being the anti submarine escort would struggle.
