Not sure how credible Navy Recognition is anymore... in the last few years its quality has been average at best and that article doesn't actually give us any details.

Of course, I'm sure Liaoning already has tested integrated combat capabilities and conducted increasingly complex exercises, but that article overall is a big nothingburger.

Most importantly, is that the only "new" part of that article is actually directly copied from an official PLA media release which is only like two paragraphs long:

... Whereas the rest of the Navy Recognition article is just listing specifications for the Liaoning, many of which are obsolete or incorrect as well

Their editorial and writing quality tanked especially after Xavier (Xavnn in SDF) left them.

Frankly speaking USN has no respect for Liaoning and shandong, they dont believe those can match CV Rooseveltt and Reagan.

Now, what if the force multipler FC31 or j35 onboard Liaoning. 20 j35 onboard Liaoning will definitely make USN think 2nd and 3rd times when it match against super horneted based US carrier.

I think that will change the psychological factor.

To me, j35, will be the force multiplier outthere even on a carrier like Liaoning. Unlike j20 which hiding inland , doesnt have that much an impact.

Even with j-35s, its unlikely that these carriers will have a offensive bite. They should of left the anti ship missile tubes or install a few df-21/26/hypersonic missle tubes.

There is already an example of the offensive power of this class of ship: Kuznetsov in action off Syria.

It doesn't matter what the USN think of Liaoning and Shandong, because the aircraft carrier ambition and endeavor of the PLAN will NOT end with Liaoning and Shandong. In fact, the Liaoning and Shandong will be a good example to show to the US that a navy like India's will be of insignificantly little help to the US in her endeavor to "contain" China. This means that any US effort and intention to showcase their improving relations with India with an implication of countering the naval power of China, is bogus trash talk.

The US could hand over the Nimitz to India instead of scrapping it.
