Ministry of National Defense: Full-time surveillance of the joint military ship Liaoning Province
Latest update: 2019/06/19 20:46
(Central News Agency reporter Kai Kaixiang, Taipei, 19th) The media reported today that the military aircraft carrier Liaoning entered the South China Sea and may visit the South China Sea artificial island that was reclaimed in China in recent years. The Ministry of National Defense responded in the evening to the relevant development of the Liaoning Army. Detecting the movement of the ship, the people of the country can feel at ease.

A number of media reported that the Liaoning and escort formations, south of the western Pacific, first approached the waters of Guam, then circled the southern Philippines, and have now entered the South China Sea. They may visit China's artificial islands in the South China Sea that have been reclaimed in recent years.

The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release in the evening. In response to the movement of the Liaoning issue, the National Army used joint ISR to fully grasp the relevant aircraft and ship movement in the region and maintain the security of the Taiwan Strait and regional peace and stability. The people of the country can feel at ease. (Editor: Lin Xingmeng) 1080619

The PLA-N need to take the Liaoning on a World Tour. She has spent too much time close to home. Spend 6 to 8 months out at sea.

And WHY ... just for the reason that you feel fine with all your bigger, better, more and hyper posts?

Name any recent carrier world tour - I must admit I don't know if there was any - any carrier has made, explain the reasons and even more how China should support this tour? What should the benefit be?

Sorry to say so, but please grow up ....

I was not expecting an ad hominem attack from you. Interesting. You responded as if this idea was a threat of some sort. In any case, one word to answer your question, experience. I feel they would get MORE valuable experience with an extended tour, especially beyond their backyard. After all, China IS pursuing a Blue Water Navy. You're not much of one if you don't leave your backyard. I see what China is doing. Gradually taking one step at a time, but I feel they are being far too cautious.

IIRC, France CBG was in SE Asia a couple of weeks ago. Granted it's not a World Tour but it's far away enough from their shores. I fully expect the UK to do the same with their carriers. Why China shouldn't do such a thing?

Although not a CBG, China's anti-piracy flotillas, have stayed out at sea for as long as 6 months a few times already. Now would be a good time to up the difficulty. With a CBG, the complexity would greatly increase, and they need the experience to handle it. Lastly, what do you mean by "how China should support his tour"? I'm going to assume you mean politically. If so, Beijing's answer to the World community can be that of a training exercise.

Thanks for your reply and even if I don't agree in all points, it is at least a decent answer; much appreciated since we are now in a discussion and not in simple one-liner!

By the way, here's the course of the Liaoning's latest long-distance training cruise ...
