.

As usual, the Chinese navy remained deliberately very discreet on the movement of its flag ship, but we had a first indication on the departure of the only Chinese aircraft carrier thanks to

, indicating the closure of a maritime area 170 km from the base port for reasons of "major military exercise".

A video broadcast on the Chinese national television channel CCTV-1 also mentions that "the Liaoning aircraft carrier is currently on a training mission at sea", without giving any further explanation.

The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense, attentive to the slightest movement of Chinese naval air forces, then officially confirms yesterday morning the Chinese aircraft carrier's exit during a session in Taipei's Parliament.

, stating that the Chinese aircraft carrier has entered the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), which covers the entire Taiwan Strait on 20 January. March at 20h local time and came out on 21 around 12:30.

These elements allow us to deduce that the Chinese flotilla crossed the Taiwanese ADIZ for about 16.5 hours, which is to suggest that the Chinese aircraft carrier and its escort vessels sped right through the and at a speed greater than 28 knots.

It should be noted that a sea-firing exercise took place near Wenzhou, a Chinese coastal city located south of Shanghai and on the Chinese aircraft carrier's crossing, at the time of crossing. But on the face of it there is no direct link with the carrier group since the maneuvers took place from 9am to 1pm local time on March 21st, if we believe the message dedicated to aircrafts (NOTAM), while the door -We should already be away from the place indicated.

Liaoning aircraft carrier enters Taiwan Strait, "Too normal. Is it really news?"

"The aircraft carrier from the Chinese mainland is coming again," the Taiwan media exclaimed on Mar. 21 at a time when the situation in the Taiwan Strait is particularly sensitive due to the "Taiwan Travel Act."

Taiwan’s so-called "Defense Minister" Yen Teh-fa confirmed on Mar. 21 that the aircraft carrier Liaoning from the Chinese mainland entered the Taiwan Strait on Mar. 20. Taiwan’s so-called "Presidential Office" claimed that the Taiwan military's "various countermeasures are in place" and that the Taiwan people can rest assured.

Compared with Taiwan's excitement, Chinese mainlanders interviewed by the Global Times responded flatly. A person who did not wish to be identified told the Global Times on Mar. 21: "This is too normal. Is it really news?"

As for the timing of the appearance of the Liaoning aircraft carrier in the Taiwan Strait and the "Taiwan Travel Act", and whether it is a countermeasure taken by the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the person stated that any party can speculate as to whether it is a countermeasure or not.

However, the Chinese mainland does not need to use any tricks to counter the "Taiwan Travel Act". The Chinese mainland has a lot of powerful countermeasures for the related parties that damage China's core interests. The Chinese mainland does not need to be sneaky, shy or secretive when it comes to countermeasures. Any party that damages China's core interests must weigh if they can afford to touch China's red line, said the person.

A military expert who wished to be anonymous said in an interview with the Global Times on Mar. 21 that it is not the first time the Liaoning aircraft carrier has conducted cross-sea training and the latest sailing is also a routine one.

The fact that the PLA did not issue any news the last two times means that this is a normal training and there was no need to announce it. At present, the cross-sea training of the aircraft carrier has been normalized, and Taiwan should adapt to it, said the expert.

As for the training content, the expert said that it includes verification of long-range carrier navigation capabilities and coordinated formation methods, and improvement of combat capability.

The expert believed that the cross-sea training of the Liaoning aircraft carrier aims to improve the capability to fight and defeat the hostile. Its main purpose is to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security, territorial integrity and unity. “It is a shock to the forces of ‘Taiwan independence’,” said the expert.

Back couple years when Liaoning first start trial run, many of the western analyst suggested that Chna couldn't possibly manufacture a carrier steel so they say it must imported from Sweden. Well now the secret is out Nope no blond swede is helping China but 30 years Chinese female engineer did
Here is via Cybernetic the story of Chinese development of Carrier quality steel
BTW Anshan is the craddle of Chinese heavy industry I include brief description of Anshan iron and steel factory history.Started by the Japanese. looted by the soviet union China has to restart from scratch

Here is Cybernetic summary
Video summary:
18th national congress stated China's goal of building an industrially strong nation. Steel is a fundamental industry and the life blood of the economy. The development of the steel industry has an intimate relation with the nation's economy, society, and development of national defence.

Anshan, Liaoning, a city born out of the steel industry, is a major steel production base of China. Angang steel is an "elder" and birth place of the nation's steel industry. It symbolises China's transition from a large steel producer to a strong steel producer.

Carrier steel is produced in Bayuquan 鲅鱼圈, a city 100km south of Anshan. The facility includes China's most advanced steel manufacturing and processing equipment, including machine that produces 5.5m wide (world's widest), up to more than 40m long steel plates (4 times the previous steel plate size), with more than 100,000 tones of compression force. The advantage of large steel plates is that it lowers welding length, reduces production time, and improve overall quality. Currently this is the only production facility in China for producing this type of large piece carrier steel.

Steel testing and analysis @6:55
Thousands of samples were taken on areas of concern and performed impact testing. All samples met the criterias.

@7:53 a 30 year old technician joined the carrier steel development and manufacturing team in 2012. During the one month production period, he was in the facility 24 hours a day to ensure quality, only sleeping 3-4 hours a day.

@8:38 engineers monitoring steel production. Zhoudan, one of Angang Steel's military steel researcher with 24 years of naval steel research experience. In 2008 she received a task to develop steel to repair Liaoning carrier. @9:52 After 2 months of trials they achieved their first batch. In May of 2009 Angang sent out 200 tones of steel used to repair Liaoning.
