Reminds me of that line from the Dirty Dozen where Donald Sutherland's character said very pretty, but can they fight? Russia and India have carrier combat experience, especially India, and PRC doesn't. No question PLAN CV operation has the parade ground part down pat, but until they're tested in combat, it's still an unknown.

The Russians have NO experience fighting with a carrier...and very little with other ships. They had virtually no Navy operating in World War II.

If you want to count what they did for a couple of weeks in syria...it was pretty pathetic actually.

The do have a lot of Cold War experience...but most of those guys are like my...in their sixties now.

China has more experience with carriers now...in the present moment...than Russia. And over the next years they are going to pile it on.

Will they have some conflict where they use their air power? we shall see. right now the ony two nations who have effectively used air power of carriers in the ast twenty years are the US and France.

India has some combat experience...but it is older too...and of short duration during the Paki conflict.

Anyhow, my comment stands. In terms of at sea operational experience, China is building theirs fast and Russia is sort of languishing.

You are correct on this, it is not tested and proven, it is just the fact, no argument. But at the same time, we need to understand, the game between countries, existence is power. I do believe what Sun Tzu wrote in his The Art of War: To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill. I wish it will never be tested, I wish you are always right on this point, from the bottom of my heart.

What part of what I said isn't true? When events and facts change, so will my views of PLAN deck aviation as great-looking, but yet to be proven force. I'm not against a powerful Chinese navy.

very true ... the same case for most navies, including Japan, Korea, Germany, India, etc, etc :p .... not proven force ... we need a real war to prove it ... which obviously costly and don't want it
