This is an interesting comparison. The Liaoning carrier took 5 years to complete its first 1,000 takeoffs and landings, and another 2.5 years for the second 1,000. In contrast, the Shandong achieved its first 1,000 in 3 years and the next 1,000 in just 7 months.

the first takeoff of the J-15 from the Shandong aircraft carrier occurred on August 8, 2019. It took 3 years, until August 2022, to complete 1,000 takeoffs and landings. The next 1,000 were achieved 7 months later, in March 2023. By July 2025, the total reached nearly 10,000, meaning approximately 6,000 takeoffs and landings were completed in the following 28 months.

I had misread the figure and my calcs were wrong
