380 sorties over 7 days (54 per day) seem pretty reasonable carrier the size of shandong.

if we just concentrate on fighters, that’s 34 sorties per day. If the deck is 26 to 28 J15s, then we are looking at more than 1 sortie per day per aircraft.

Got to tell you gents..this is an excellent sortie rate. I'd like to know what sort of missions they were simulating. Did they drop any ordnance? I'd like to know the full story. Never the less as someone that served on five USN CVs..the Shandong did well during this at sea period. Excellent in fact.

Chances are they aren't at sea with a full airwing (which would be about 26 J-15s), and probably not doing super high intensity sortie rates, so 34 fighter sorties per day seems reasonable.

Shandong task force deployed 390km to 540km southeast of Miyakojima. The number of takeoffs and landings was about 240 by carrier-based fighter jets and about 140 by carrier-based helicopters, totaling about 380.

Shandong formation back toward the SCS. From July 17 to 18, number of takeoffs and landings was about 20 by carrier-based fighter jets and about 20 by carrier-based helicopters, totaling about 40.
