There was no danger to investigators during the first week after the crash. It is the sensitivities that let us suspect this is a sordid affair.

If you took notice of the public commentary by Australia's Prime Minister in the week after the crash and how it changed after several days, as I did being a citizen of said country, you'd quickly realise what was required for any sort of investigation to occur. Criticism and finger pointing wasn't going to get boots on the ground.

I don't remember what the Australian PM said. I do remember that there was no fighting in the area, that local people were busy collecting human remains and storing them in a refrigerated train ( and being blamed for it at the time ), that the militia declared a ceasefire zone and that Kiev said it agreed with an even wider zone, that OCSE personel were active in the area and didn't experience any danger. The danger came a week later when Kiev allowed the Dutch experts to go to Donetsk and at the same time developed an offensive in the direction of the crash site and Donetsk.

oh, no :-(

I'm addressing concerns that silence by nations that have a vested interest in MH-17 somehow equates to knowing who is to blame for the downing of the aircraft. I've not expressed an opinion one way or the other as to how I believed it actually occurred for the sheer fact that I don't know!

Diplomacy and all it's nuances are best left to those that are on a far larger pay rate than I'm currently on.

Do we need Wikileak to release the bombshell? That will be a long wait.

I'm talking about the conduct of the parties. Acts speak louder than words. Besides Poroshenko recently accused unidentified professional Russian military personel with shooting down the airliner. No silence there. You don't think Western parties would remain silent if they had any evidence that either the militia or the Russians were responsible.

look like these were captured from the army?

now abandoning your machine gun is not unacceptable when circumstance dictates, but giving them away intact is very unprofessional.

Accordong to RT, the separatists did a parade in Donetsk. Obviously that meant the city is not in danger of falling to Kiev forces in the mean time.

More interesting is the counter offfensive that started south of the city and the militia reported trapping 5,000 Kiev soldiers and hundreds of vehicles.
Seriously I doubt the militia can have a tight grip on that encirclement without endangering other parts of the east Ukraine that they are holding.

I'll stick with Col Cassad's opinion on this matter.
