It's not fun trying to run away while lugging a heavy machinegun. I think the soldier has more on his mind, like staying alive, to think of smashing the machinegun.

I like that sniper rifle. It looks like a Kord which is a relatively new Russian large calibre sniper rifle.

look like these were captured from the army?

now abandoning your machine gun is not unacceptable when circumstance dictates, but giving them away intact is very unprofessional.

Accordong to RT, the separatists did a parade in Donetsk. Obviously that meant the city is not in danger of falling to Kiev forces in the mean time.
You surely don't get what Jura meant here.

You, know they shoot and kill people there...

Jura talked about the parade in one post and in another post he mentioned that Kiev prisoners were paraded in it. I had already read about that intent on Col Cassad's Livejournal since yesterday. It was obviously to replicate a similar prisoner parade of captured German soldiers in WW2. Of course the militia don't have that many Kiev soldiers to do a really big parade this tme.

Actually, no biggie here as even North Vietnam paraded captured US pilots during the Vietnam War. Iran did something similar with the US hostages too during the hostage crises.

you dont render it unusable by smashing it. you take out the bolt and disassemble the bolt and scatter it everywhere, then you render the barrel unusable by either destroy the rifling, or blast with a grenade. now for a group of soldiers who know what they are doing, this would not take long at all.

Thank you but I think at that moment they were all busy running away. Seriously, I think the kiev boys start running when one of their armoured vehicles get hit. I saw many of the militia videos and they showed burned apc and no dead bodies around.

The Kiev prisoners parade in Donetsk. Fixed bayonets too. Looks mean. People still carry bayonets?

Doubt Kiev will be claiming they had captured Donestsk tomorrow.

More interesting is the counter offfensive that started south of the city and the militia reported trapping 5,000 Kiev soldiers and hundreds of vehicles.
Seriously I doubt the militia can have a tight grip on that encirclement without endangering other parts of the east Ukraine that they are holding.

I'll stick with Col Cassad's opinion on this matter.

This story caught my attention as well, although I would be surprised if it is as advertised.
I also balance this with the info from Cassad and I think we can discern some facts.

1) That Kiev has committed so much to the front line, it has very little left in reserve
2) That beyond the line, there is a soft underbelly to be exploited
3) That this mission is more likely to be a smash and grab raid, to take equipment, ammo and other supplies.
4) Give heart to other Pro Russian areas under Kiev control and so encourage further uprisings etc.

Of course if the raid causes enough confusion (panic) among Pro Kiev forces on the Southern Front and it descends into widespread disorder and chaos, then an opportunity does arise to "melee" and inflict very heavy casualties. It does depend just how much force has been sent on it, or can be sent to join it if opportunity presents.

it also very much adds more rain onto Mr Porochencko's parade.

Either way, Kiev will have to pull forces from the offensive to guard the cities in the south Clearly they took a risk and stripped those cities of the garrison and sent them up north for the offensive.

But now they will have to be send back so as not to lose those cities to a bunch of roving marauders.
That will weaken Kiev and they will not have an easy time with the 4th draft of west Ukrainians, not after videos of thos prisoners being paraded in Donetsk make their way to the mothers.

Merkiel opened a channel for negotiation by endorsing a federation of Ukraine, which I think is what most east Ukraine would like to see rather than outright annexation by Russia.

an anti-Russian site with their own sitmap.

wow, even anti-russian sites are painting pictures of a less than optimistic situation than say the BBC. really makes you question how much effort these outlets devote to actually acquire useful info.
